Gertrude Peach Funeral Service Broadcast

Gertrude Peach age 93, passed peacefully Friday morning, November 8, 2024. She lived in Anderson County her whole life with the exception of living with her sister, Valeria Taylor, for the last 2 years. She married Johnie Peach, also of Anderson County, in December of 1950, and enjoyed 60 years of marriage. Together, they worked raising tobacco, cattle, and running their dairy farm off of Highway 62. They raised two children, Craig Peach and Stacey Steverson, along with family pets and multiple generations of cats who loved daily doses of warm fresh milk. Johnie and Gertrude enjoyed supporting their church family at Friendship and Unity Baptist Church on Highway 62. Gertrude loved cooking, and was famous for her desserts which were very popular at the potluck lunch after church. She never brought home any leftovers of her chocolate pie. As a farmer's wife, she spent many hours gardening, canning and tending her flowers. Recently she made bread and butter pickles which became part of her lunch everyday. She had a great love for God, the Smith and Peach family, friends, and games such as Rook and Chickenfoot. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Johnie, father and mother, Charley and Edna Smith, sisters, Welma Thomas (Junior), Wanda Kuddes (Harry), brother Ralph Smith, and brother-in-law, Ben Taylor. She is survived by her sister, Valeria Taylor, and sister-in-law Sybil Smith. She has many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. We will miss her sweet sense of humor and warm smile, however she knew God would always take care of her, even with His promise of eternal life.

Funeral service will be 12:00 Noon Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home.  Bro. Bobby Chesser will officiate the service.  Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.  Visitation will begin at 10 am until the time of service at 12:00 noon Saturday.

Serving as pallbearers will be Casey Taylor, Ken Taylor, George Doster, Rodney Durr, Adam Durr, and Don Peach.

Honorary bearers will be Larry Taylor and Ronnie Peach.
