Georgia Ritchie Jeffers, 87, of Lawrenceburg passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014 at her home. Widow of James Kenneth Jeffers, she was born Feb. 28, 1927 in Perry County, KY to the late Elbert and Lonna Ritchie.

Mrs. Jeffers previously worked as an elementary school teacher with the Anderson and Perry County school systems and received a degree in philosophy from Berea College. She is a member of the Corner Stone Grace Fellowship Church in Lexington and a fine seamstress and quilter.

She is survived by four children, Elaine T. (Dee Gramoy) Jeffers of Hilton Head, SC, Jerry L. (Beth) Jeffers of Richmond, Tony Wade Jeffers of Lawrenceburg, and Robin P. (Scott) Sutherland of California, KY; a grandchild, Montelle Nett of Dallas, TX; a great grandson, Jacob Cornette of Richmond; two sisters, Geneva (Edison) Hunley of TX, and Linda (James) Sullivan of Allock, KY. Including her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Elbert Ritchie, Jr. and a sister Shelby Combs.

Funeral services will be 11 am Wednesday, August 27th at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Dick officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 – 8 pm Tuesday.
