George Allen Ward, 81, of Lawrenceburg passed away Thursday, October 29, 2015 at the Heritage Hall Care Center in Lawrenceburg. Born November 14, 1933 in Anderson County, he was the son of the late John Worley and Gracie Florine Gaines Ward.

George was the former parts manager for 18 years at Country Side Motors in Lawrenceburg and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a life member and deacon of the Glensboro Christian Church and a member of the Anderson County Senior Citizens.

George is survived by four children, John Allen (Darlene Spencer) Ward, Marvin Keith Ward, April Rose Ward (Timmy) Thurman, and Sara Louise Ward, all of Lawrenceburg; special companion, Bessie Mae Fint Ward; a step-son, Lee Updike; 8 grandchildren, Timothy Justin (Brittany) Thurman, Matthew Cody Thurman, Kristopher Jordan (Abby) Thurman, John Martin Ward, Nellie Marie Ward, James Allen Estes, Tamara Danielle Updike, and John Thomas Updike; 3 great grandchildren, Tressa Brooke Catherine Thurman, Henry Jase Thurman, Harper Grace Thurman; and a brother, Eldon Ray Ward of IN. Along with his parents, George was predeceased by his first wife, Alice Louise Curtsinger Ward and two sisters, Sarah Frances Morris and Margaret Ann Ward.

Funeral services will be 11 am Saturday, Oct. 31st at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Bro. Jody Stamper and Bro. Matthew Spaulding officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 – 8 pm Friday.

Pallbearers will be Bobby, Justin, John Martin, Matthew, and Kristopher Thurman, James and Ron Estes, and John Thomas Updike. Serving as honorary bearers will be the Elders and Deacons of Glensboro Christian Church and Jerry, Gilbert "Punkin", Danny Lee, and Jimmy Curtsinger.
