George Willis Aldridge, 85, passed away November 5, 2019 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center. Born November 17, 1933 in Anderson County, George was the son of the late Willie Cecil Aldridge and Mary Frances Hellard Aldridge.
Along with his parents, George was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Wiseman, and four brothers, Jackie, Willie, Michael, and David Aldridge.
George was a retired tool clerk for Universal Fasteners in Lawrenceburg and worked 40 years delivering newspapers for the Lexington Herald Leader. He served his country with the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post #34. George served his community as a Captain with the Anderson County Rescue Squad and as unit #305 with the Lawrenceburg Fire & Rescue for 40 plus years. He enjoyed hunting and raising gardens.
George is survived by two children, George Wayne Aldridge and Angela Marie Aldridge Robinson (Dwayne Smith) all of Lawrenceburg; 5 grandchildren, Amanda (Donald) Fuller, Jessica (Charles) Powell, Anna Smith, Ava Smith, and Kurtis Forbes; 10 great grandchildren, Preston, Hollie, Lacey, William, and Michelle Powell, Karson, Kinley, Kolton, and Kahne Fuller, Aerilynn Fuller, and two on the way; two sisters, Patty (Bill) Hendricks of Lawrenceburg and Barbara Stratton of Bradfordsville; two brothers, Johnny Aldridge and Carl Aldridge, both of Lawrenceburg; and two loving caregivers, Amanda Lindsey and Tasha Lynn.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM Thursday and after 10 AM Friday at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 8 th beginning at 1:00 PM at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home. Bro. George Dye and Bro. Dallas Daniels will officiate the service. Burial with military honors will be held in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Members of the Lawrenceburg Fire & Rescue will serve as pallbearers and provide Firefighter Honors. George's grandchildren and great grandchildren will serve as honorary bearers.
