Gayle William Smith, 65, husband of the late Tina (Disponett) Smith, passed away Friday, June 28, 2019 at his home. Born March 18, 1954 in Frankfort, KY, Gayle was the son of the late Duard "Shorty" Smith and Bessie Mae (Snow) Smith.

Along with his parents, Gayle was preceded in death by his siblings and their wives, Paul R. (Sandy) Smith, Ronald G. (Brenda) Smith, Dayle Thomas Smith, and JoAnn Smith.

Gayle worked for 40 years as a paint operator and sorter at Universal Fasteners in Lawrenceburg. He attended the Lawrenceburg Community Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Gayle was known for playing the drums and along with his twin brother Dayle were member of the band "Buckskins".

Gayle is survived by two children, Stephen Smith and wife Kelly of Lawrenceburg and Amy Harris of Taylorsville; 5 grandchildren, Hailey Faas Smith, Stephen Smith, Jr., Laura Smith, Bradley Moore, and Kristin Moore; a brother, Danny Wayne Smith and wife Jean of Bowling Green; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4 – 8 pm Monday, July 1 ^st at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Tuesday, July 2 ^nd at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home. Bro. Steve Broughton and Bro. George Dye will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Hebron Cemetery in Anderson County, KY.

Serving as pallbearers will be Stephen Smith, Stephen Smith, Jr., Joey Smith, Jeremy Smith, Chad Fuller, and Derek Perry.  Honorary bearers will be Christopher Smith, Andy Smith, Buddy Hall, and Joseph Linville.
