Gayle Kathleen Casteel Smith, 75, passed away February 1, 2023 at Bluegrass Community Hospital –E.R. in Versailles, KY.  Daughter of the late Verdia H. Hayes, Gayle was born in Louisville, KY on July 4, 1947.

Gayle was the former manager of the Dollar General Store on Hilltop Drive in Lawrenceburg and the Kitchen Manager of the Georgetown Flea Market.  She loved her church, Central Baptist Church in Anderson County.  Her hobbies included sewing, crafts, baking cakes, flowers, birds, antiques and knick knacs.

She is survived by four children, Robby Smith (wife Lorissa) of Versailles, Jody Smith (wife Shannon) of Lawrenceburg, Stephanie Smith of Lawrenceburg, and Amy Perry (husband Sean) of Lawrenceburg; 7 grandchildren, Lisa (Kyle) Porteous, Sarah (Brian) Justice, Zackary (Leslie Moon) Perry, Abigail (Jordan) Thurman, Jonah Perry, Savannah Smith, and Emmalee Smith; 8 great grandchildren; a sister, Brenda Miller; and a half-brother, Brent Casteel. Along with her mother, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Patricia Colligan, Joyce Saylor, and Mike Casteel.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 – 6 PM Tuesday, February 7, 2023 followed by a Memorial Service at 6:00 PM at Central Baptist Church, 6256 Frankfort Rd., Lawrenceburg, KY.  Bro. Rick Clark will officiate the service.
