Funeral Service Broadcast for Garry Carpenter

Garry Delbert Carpenter, 68, of Garrard County, KY passed away January 4, 2025 at Ephraim McDowell Medical Center in Danville, KY.  Born May 24, 1956 in McKee, KY, Garry was the son of the late Elzie and Bertha Boshers Carpenter.

Along with his parents, Garry was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Ann Phillips Carpenter; two sisters, Louise Carpenter and Barbara Clemons; and three brothers, J.B. Ramsey, Herbert Ramsey, and LeRoy Ramsey.

Garry worked as a self-employed drywaller, owning Supreme Drywall, for over 50 years and a member of the Carpenter Union.  He enjoyed coaching baseball, softball, basketball, hunting, and fishing.  Garry loved his Jeep and in his younger years driving dune buggies, 4-wheelers, spending time with his family and friends and hosting pig roast and fish fries.

Surviving family include his children, Chasity Carpenter and Garry Dale DaShawn Carpenter (wife Hellen) both of Jackson County, and Phillip W. Carpenter (wife Amy) of Garrard County; 9 grandchildren, Ashton (Dillion) Williams, MaShinda (Craig) Bowles, Brooklyn Ratliff, Chase Carpenter, Chelsea Carpenter, Caleb Kennedy, Madison Carpenter, Westlee Carpenter, and Elizabeth Carpenter; 4 great grandchildren; and a sister, Florence Powell of Rockcastle County.

Visitation will be 11 am until the time of service at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home.  Bro. Jack Carpenter and Pastor Tom Lane will officiate the service.  Burial will follow in the Sand Spring Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, KY.

Serving as pallbearers will be Caleb Kennedy, Westlee Carpenter, Chase Carpenter, Ralph Powell, Ricky "Doc" Ray, and Wayne Ramsey.  Garry's granddaughters and Braelynn Glenn will serve as honorary bearers.
