Florence Raye Cornish Barnett, age 80, wife of the late Linual Clay Barnett, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, in Louisville, KY, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was born in Nelson County, KY, on September 2, 1944, to the late Ezra Truman Cornish and Nellie Hazel Coulter Cornish.

Florence was a member of Van Buren Baptist Church and lived a life filled with love, faith, and simple joys. She retired from General Electric, where she worked diligently as an assembly line worker. Florence found peace and happiness in the outdoors—whether fishing, gardening, tending to her flowers, or watching hummingbirds in her yard. She took great pride in caring for her home and especially enjoyed mowing her lawn.

A passionate reader and talented quilter, Florence also loved cooking and cherished time spent with her family. Her beloved dog, Baby, held a special place in her heart and brought her great comfort and companionship. Florence will be remembered for her warmth, strong spirit, and the love she gave so freely to those around her.

Along with her husband and parents, Florence was preceded in death by her siblings, Nadine Bell, Charles Cornish, Carlton Cornish, and Gwendolyn Shely; brothers-in-law, Jake Mattingly, Bernie Bell, and Leon Shely; and sisters-in-law, Ann Cornish and Doris Ellen Cornish.

Florence is survived by her children, Jeanette Powers and Steven Barnett, both of Lawrenceburg; grandchildren, Amanda Cartinhour (David), Casey Hanson (Bob), Nicholas Crouch, Schuyler Barnett, Aaron Rutledge (Danielle), and Byron Nathan; great grandchildren, Landen, Raylee, Holden, Tyler, Cason, Aiden, Lainey, Adayiah, and Abram; a brother, Larry Cornish; a sister, Doris Mattingly; sisters-in-law, Margaret Cornish, Betty Barnett, and Linda Faye Sutherland; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home, immediately followed by her funeral service at 2:00 PM. Pastor Winfred Hagerman will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Cornish, Bruce Cornish, Nicholas Crouch, Schuyler Barnett, Aaron Rutledge, Byron Nathan, and Landen Cartinhour. Honorary bearers will be David Cartinhour, Bob Hanson, Eva Shackleford, Raylee, Holden, Tyler, Cason, Aiden, Lainey, Abram, and Adayiah.
