Evelyn Humphreys Spangler McCarty, 93, wife of the late Robert L. Spangler, Jr., passed away December 6, 2023 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center, Frankfort, KY.  Born in Little Hocking, OH on August 2, 1930, she was the daughter of Bruce Humphreys and Elizabeth Arthur Humphreys.

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her children, Sandra Stone, Richard Stone, and Eric Stone; a great granddaughter, Paxtyn Edgington; siblings, Robert Humphreys, William Humphreys, and Jane Smith.

Evelyn grew up in West Virginia and was a graduate of Walton High School in Walton, WV.  She retired as a clerical employee for the State of West Virginia.  She enjoyed traveling, riding motorcycles, and loved her cats and dogs.  Recently, she attended the Goshen Baptist Church in Anderson County.

Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Edgington (husband Donald) of Lawrenceburg; six grandchildren, Brian Edgington, Deanna (Daniel) Peach, Sara Beth Brumley, Rebecca Brumley, Amadeus (Emily) Durbin, and April Bailey; great grandchildren, Nick, Kloi, Adylen, Amadea, Bryon; several great-great grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Elswick (Fred) of Charleston, WV; a son-in-law, Terry Durbin of Louisville; a sister-in-law, Louise Humphreys of Westchester, OH; a brother-in-law, Joe Smith of Rochester, MN; nephew Jeff Humphreys; nieces, Liana Smith, Laura (Andrew) Parkin, Barbara Humphreys-Huddell; several great nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Humphreys Family Cemetery in Walton, WV at a later date.
