Evelyn Hawkins LIVE Funeral Service Broadcast

Evelyn Stratton Hawkins, 89, wife of the late Earl Burton Hawkins, passed away April 10, 2026 at her home in Lawrenceburg.

Born in Anderson County, KY on August 16, 1936, she was the daughter of the late John Morton Stratton and Murtie Wilson Stratton Akins. Evelyn and her husband were founding members of Freedom Baptist Church located in Anderson County.  She formerly worked as a lunch lady at Emma B. Ward Elementary School in Anderson County.  An avid homemaker, quilter, and lover of competitions, Evelyn was best known for her baking, canning, and quilting skills.  She competed in several county fairs including Anderson, Franklin, Mercer and Woodford Counties receiving hundreds of winning ribbons for her talents.  Evelyn and her husband enjoyed gardening and with this love they developed a half acre garden in Lawrenceburg out of which they created a business of raising and selling produce.

Evelyn is survived by her children: Kenny (Maureen) Hawkins, Kathy Farris, Donna Hawkins, all of Lawrenceburg, Louise (Vernon) Drury and Jimmy Hawkins of Salvisa;  her grandchildren, Marie Grimes, Amanda Hawkins, Sarah Stratton, Heather Gipson, Adam Drury, and Hannah Drury; a step-grandson, Cody Hicks; 7 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and her siblings, Sarah (Wayne) Doss and Virginia Price, both of Lawrenceburg, and Gilbert (Wilma) Stratton of Mercer County; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Mamie Carmickle, William Stratton, Elizabeth Rogers, Louise Stratton, Joyce Douglas, Elijah Stratton, John Stratton, Robert Stratton, and Goodlow Stratton.

Funeral service will be 12:00 noon Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Wells officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Frankfort, KY.  Visitation will be held prior to the service on Wednesday from 10 am - 12 noon at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Lonnie Grimes, Bobby Thurman, Tommy Hawkins, Mike Hawkins, Ricky Doss, and Dwayne Hawkins.
