Ellis Dawson Collins, 97, husband of the late Marguerite Martin Collins, passed away September 6, 2021 at the home of his daughter in Cecilia, KY.  He was born January 10, 1924 in Anderson County, KY son of the late James David Collins and Nannie Rachael McBrayer Collins.

Along with his wife and parents, Ellis was preceded in death by his siblings Eleanor Collins, Agnes McBrayer, Hazel Boone, J.D. Collins, F. Dane Collins, Nannie Wallace Collins (infant), and Amy Stark Collins (infant).

Ellis served his country as a Corporal with the Military Police in the U.S. Marine Corps during W.W. II.  He retired as the owner/operator of Collins Refrigeration and later worked for Freeman & Mann Furniture in Lawrenceburg.  A member and former Elder of the Lawrenceburg Presbyterian Church, his hobbies included woodworking, gardening, and smoking his cigars.

Ellis is survived by his daughter, Marilyn C. Horner and her husband Lloyd; two grandsons, Shain Horne and Dustin (Jamie) Horne; two great grandchildren, Addison Horne and Kaylee Horne, all of Cecilia, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 10 ^th from 12 – 2 pm followed by the service with military honors beginning at 2:00 pm at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home. Dr. Mike Hamrick will officiate the service.  A private burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

Serving as honorary bearers will be members of the Sentinels Veterans Club of Lawrenceburg, KY.
