Edward Logan Ruggles, Sr., 97, husband of Doris Poole Ruggles, passed away April 6, 2023 at Heritage Hall in Lawrenceburg.  Born in Mason County, KY on April 5, 1926, Ed was the son of the late Harry Clancy Ruggles and Ethel Curtis Lyons Ruggles.

Ed earned his degree in Agricultural Science from the University of Kentucky.  His Masters in Agricultural Science from Michigan and worked on his PhD at North Carolina State.  After moving from Paris, KY, the Ruggles' resided in the Lawrenceburg area for over 60 years.  Ed and Doris were active members of the St. John's Episcopal Church in Versailles, where Ed served on the Church Vestry and as a Sunday school teacher.  An active member of the Lawrenceburg Community, Ed formerly served in the Rotary Club, Farm Bureau, Anderson County Cattleman's Association, KY and National County Agent's Association, KY Insurance Agent, KY Auctioneers Commission, Little League Commissioner, and was a member of the Mason Masonic Lodge #90.

Including Doris, his wife of 75 years, Ed is survived by five children, Edward Logan Ruggles, Jr. (wife Lee), Darcel Miles, David Lee Ruggles (Lisa), Amy R. Gray (Tony), and Melinda R. McCormick; 9 grandchildren, Zack Z. Ruggles, Will L. Ruggles, Stephen A. Gray, Patrick A. Gray, Susan M. Clapp, Walt C. Ruggles, Spencer M. Ruggles, Emily W. Mager, Leah D. Mager; 6 great grandchildren, Ward S. Clapp, Lillian H. Clapp, Kaya F. Gray, Mazie R. Ruggles, Evie M. Gray, and Grant A. Thompson.  Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry Roger Ruggles and Donald Ralph Ruggles, and a son-in-law, Jeff McCormick.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at the Lexington Cemetery, Lexington, KY.  The Rev. Alan Sutherland will officiate the service.  Visitation will be 5 - 8 PM Monday, April 10 ^th at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home.
