Edith Carter Funeral Service Live Broadcast

Edith Gayle Hayes Divine Carter, 93, passed away January 20, 2021 at her home.  Born October 2, 1927 in Washington County, KY, Edith was the daughter of the late Lonnie Hayes and Ruth Arnold Hayes.

Along with her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her husbands, Simon Divine, Jr. and Marshall Carter; a son, Terry M. Divine; a daughter, Lexie Gayle Divine; a step-son, Rick Carter; and her sister, Helen Gabhart.

A graduate of Mackville High School, Edith worked as a cosmetologist and owned Edith's Beauty Shop.  She was a former member of the Fox Creek Homemakers and a current member of the Sand Spring Baptist Church where she formerly served in the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class and the Swingin Saints.

Edith is survived by Richard "Ric" Brooking of Houston, TX, who was always thought of as a son, and his daughters, Candace, Christine, and Dianna; a special friend and caretaker, Teresa (husband Paul) Hawkins of Lawrenceburg and her children, Brittany (Johnny) Metcalf, Benjamin (Hollie) Joseph, Michael Joseph, and Adam Aldridge, and their children; a nephew, Carl K. (Sharon) Gabhart of Mackville; a niece, Alice Ann (Tom) Clark) of TX; a step granddaughter, Macie Carter Henry of FL.

Visitation will be 11 am – 12 noon Tuesday, January 26 ^th followed by funeral service beginning at 12 noon Tuesday at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home.  Dr. Mike Hamrick will officiate the service.  Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Benjamin Joseph, Adam Aldridge, Michael Joseph, Jonus Metcalf, Blaine Metcalf, and Billy Overstreet.
