Earl McGaughey, 86, of Lawrenceburg passed away Monday, Feb. 9, 2015 at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Jane Lee Hunter McGaughey and born April 7, 1928 in Anderson County, the son of the late Chester and Ida Belle Gunter McGaughey.

Earl was a retired employee of Southern States Petroleum for over 30 years, a farmer, and served in the U.S. Army. A member of the Alton Christian Church, Earl served as former Chairman of the Board, Deacon and a member of the Rough and Ready senior group. He was a member of the Alton Ruritan Club and an avid U.K. Wildcat fan.

He is survived by his daughter, Cathy Morgan Sloan and her husband Gary of Lawrenceburg, two grandchildren, Natalie Jane Morgan (Jay) Anderson of Harrodsburg and Nathan Earl (Heather) Morgan of Lawrenceburg, a great granddaughter, Kayleigh Marie Morgan and a great grandson, Steven Henry Anderson, and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his former son-in-law. Bruce Morgan, a brother, Chester Lee McGaughey, and three sisters, Lura Drury, Josephine Thornberry, and Margie Sparrow.

Funeral services will be 11 am Friday, Feb. 13th at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Bro. Noal Cotton, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5 – 8 pm Thursday.

Pallbearers will be Harold and Jeff Reynolds, Buddy Smith, James Marrow, Gary Drury, and Mark Bryant.
