Doris Ann Spencer, 74, of Waddy, passed away December 27, 2017 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

Born in Van Lear, Kentucky, Mrs. Spencer was a graduate of Wheelwright High School. She later moved to Lexington where she worked for Square D Company and the Lexington Herald-Leader. It was at Square D where she met her future husband, Bob, and the two were married nearly 51 years. While in Lexington, she was an active member of North View Baptist Church. A resident of Waddy since 1979, Mrs. Spencer was a dedicated member of Waddy Baptist Church. She was employed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky at the Department of Fish and Wildlife, Kentucky State Police and the Department of Transportation, from which she retired in 2005. Mrs. Spencer was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Cora Preston and Annabelle Bender.

In addition to her husband, Bob, of Waddy, she is survived by two sons: Robert Spencer of Louisville and Matthew Spencer of Hendersonville, North Carolina.

Visitation will be held at Waddy Baptist Church on Saturday, December 30, 2017 from 10 AM to 1:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at the church beginning at 1:00 pm with interment at Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Bro. Tex Selph will officiate the service.

Serving as pallbearers will be Nathan Franklin, Troy Witt, Michael McCue, Davis McCue, Neil McKinney and Lee Gentry.
