Doris LaVerne Poole Ruggles, 98, beloved wife of the late Edward Logan Ruggles, Sr., of Lawrenceburg, passed away peacefully Friday, September 20, 2024 at Heritage Hall in Lawrenceburg. Born on July 29, 1926 in Lexington, KY she was the daughter of  the late James Lee Poole and Lillian Hall Poole.

Including her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by a brother, James Lee Poole.

Doris was a dedicated member St. John's Episcopal Church in Versailles, KY where she served as a Reading Club Teacher and Sunday School Teacher. After attending The University of Kentucky she devoted her career to education making a lasting impact through her work with the Head Start Program. She was a long-time member of the Kentucky Business and Professional Women's Club and the Lawrenceburg Pierian Women's Club where she nurtured friendships and contributed to her community.

Doris is lovingly remembered by five children; Edward Logan Ruggles, Jr. (wife Lee) of Lawrenceburg, Darcel Miles of Augusta, GA, David Lee Ruggles (wife Lisa) of Lawrenceburg, Amy Hall Gray (husband Tony) of Lexington, and Melinda R. McCormick of Lawrenceburg; nine grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Monday, September 30, 2024 at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM at the Lexington Cemetery on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 with Ann Richmond officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Stephen Anthony Gray, Patrick Anthony Gray, Zack Ruggles, Will Logan Ruggles, Walt C. Ruggles, and Spencer Ruggles. Honorary pallbearers will be Emily M. Thompson, Leah D. Mager, and Susan M. Clapp.
