Doris Jean Johnson, 87, wife of the late Buddy Johnson, passed away on August 1, 2026, at her home in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. Born on July 31, 1939, in Shelby County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Lester Kelley and Carrie Hardin Kelley.

A proud graduate of Simpsonville High School, Doris was honored as the Salutatorian of her graduating class. She retired after many years of dedicated service as the Department Manager of Fabrics and Crafts at Walmart. An exceptionally talented seamstress, Doris lovingly created countless clothing items for her family and was the person everyone turned to for expert alterations.

Doris found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved working jigsaw puzzles, tending to her beautiful flower gardens, and preparing delicious meals for her family. She cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren, whether at home or on outings together, and always enjoyed visiting with her neighbors. Above all, Doris had a kind and compassionate heart. She genuinely loved people, and if she noticed someone with a frown, she made it her mission to bring a smile to their face.

Along with her parents and husband of 37 years, Doris was preceded in death by a sister, Dora Mae Waits, and a grandson, Stephen Howard Baker.

Doris is survived by her children, Kathy L. Baker of Lawrenceburg, Flossie J. Doss (Lloyd) of Frankfort, Scott Carpenter (Teri) of Lawrenceburg, and Karen Driskell (Brad) of Lawrenceburg; a sister, Patsy Ann Armstrong, Several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home, 701 N. Main Street, Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, with Bro. Randy Peyton officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 12:00 P.M. until the start of the service at 2:00 P.M.

Serving as pallbearers will be Raymond Tinsley, David Woods, Austen Carpenter, Daniel Doss, Brady Driskell, and Tim Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be Dawn Baker, Connor Doss, and Cara Beth Doss.
