Donnie C. Wells, 86, husband of Jayne Carol Simpson Wells, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.  Born in Washington County, Kentucky on July 27, 1938, he was the son of the late Clifton Wells.

Donnie was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Gene Wells.

Donnie worked as an accountant for the Kentucky Department of Transportation and previously spent 26 years working in the banking industry. Donnie was also very active in his community as a Life Member of Robert M. Sirkle Lodge #954 and was involved in The Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He loved his family very much and enjoyed farming, fishing, and cheering for the University of Kentucky Wildcats. Donnie was a member of First Christian Church in Lawrenceburg.

Including Jayne, his wife of 65 years, he is survived by his daughters, Allison K. Handy (husband Rodney) and June R. Smith (husband Mike) both of Lawrenceburg, KY; three grandchildren, Jessica Peyton Ripy (husband Cole), Cody Ryan Smith, and Chase Landon Smith all of Lawrenceburg.

Visitation will be 12:00 Noon – 1:00 PM Saturday, August 3 followed by the funeral service beginning at 1:00 PM Saturday at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home.  Rev. Jim Wheeler will officiate the service.  Burial with military honors will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Rodney Handy, Mike Smith, Jessica Ripy, Cole Ripy, Cody Smith, and Chase Smith. Honorary bearers will be Doug Sallee and Gayle Burns.
