Funeral Service Broadcast for Donald Lee Cox

Donald Lee Cox, 78, husband of Mary Jane Curtsinger Cox, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024 at his home.  Born in Lawrenceburg on November 3, 1945, Donald was the son of the late Benjamin Leanious Cox and Mildred Irene Akins Cox.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Karen Lynne Sewell Cox; a sister, Ruby Frances Dale; his step father, William Dale; his step mother, Virginia Cox; a step sister, Edith Caudill; and a step brother, Butch Decker.

He worked as head grocery clerk at Kroger in Frankfort and Lawrenceburg for 32 years.  Previously, he worked for 10 years at Trane Company in Lexington.  A member of Hebron Baptist Church in Salvisa where he served as trustee, Sunday school teacher, music leader, and was instrumental in the major remodeling of the church.  He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and working in his yard.

Including Mary Jane, his wife of 60 years, he is survived by two sons, Donald "Donnie" Cox and Kevin (wife Sue) Cox, both of Lawrenceburg; 5 grandchildren, Jessica Renea Cox (Jon Brooks), Brittany Nicole Roberts (Patrick), Mackenzie Brooke Cox, Madison Paige Cox, and Aleaha Horsley (Will); 1 great grandchild, Temperance Elizabeth Ingram; two special little girls, Raegan & Allison Brooks; siblings, Joan (Richard) Beard, John (Terry) Dale, Beverly Elaine (Tony) Powell, Douglas Dale, Helena Charron, Keena Dale, Juliet Skinner, Lynnora Skinner, Patricia (Scott) Holland, and Alicia (Tom) Wester; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday, March 29, 2024 at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Bro. George Dye and Bro. Dallas Daniels officiating.  Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5 – 8 PM Thursday and after 11 AM until the time of service on Friday.

Casket bearers will be Clarence Perkins, Patrick Roberts, Jon Brooks, Richard Beard, Don Colliver, Will Zibell, Ray Curtsinger III and Gary Dixon. Honorary bearers will be Ronnie Broce and Larry Alexander.
