Beatrice Darlene Akers Martin, 67, wife of John Martin, Sr., passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Hosparus Care Center, Louisville, KY. Born May 29, 1949 in Pikeville, KY, Darlene was the daughter of the late John and Christine Elam Akers.

Darlene formerly worked as a nurse at Woodland Terrace Health Care in Elizabethtown. She loved her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Along with her husband John, Darlene is survived by two children, Gerri Paige Kimel and John Martin, Jr., both of Flaherty, KY; her grandchildren, Cari (Matthew) Hamlin of Lawrenceburg, Katy (Joe) West of Nicholasville, Hannah Kimel of Cincinnati, Chelsey (Cory) Compton of Nicholasville, and Mackenzie Martin of Lawrenceburg; six great grandchildren, Mason, Ryder, Emma Kate, Molly, Janie, and Josie; her siblings, Vera Kiser of Flaherty, Debra Fivel of Radcliff, Ellen Anderson of Lexington, John Akers of Flaherty, and Andy Akers of Taylorsville.

Including her parents, Darlene was predeceased by a daughter, Jondra Clayborn; and three siblings, Tobe Akers, Rod Akers, and William Akers.

Darlene chose cremation. No services will be held.
