Connie Houston Carlton, 74, of Lawrenceburg, husband of Judy Driskell Carlton, passed away Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, after an 11-year battle with cancer.

Connie was born March 30, 1942, to the late Evelyn Belle and R.B. Carlton. He was a graduate of Anderson County High School and Kentucky Barber College.

He married the love of his life on Jan. 22, 1963, and they lived most of their 53 years together on the "Big 20," their farm on Rice Road.
Connie had many jobs throughout his career: barber, farmer, carpenter, craftsman, cooper, historic interpreter at Shaker Village. In all, he was a storyteller who loved to bring smiles and laughs to the people he met.

He is survived by his wife and three children: Chad Carlton (Carla) of Louisville, Jill Carlton Blythe (Lee) of Auburn and Cole Carlton of Lawrenceburg; a brother, Jerry Carlton of Lawrenceburg; four grandchildren, Shelby Blythe and Jackson Blythe of Auburn and Harper Carlton and Clay Carlton of Louisville; two nephews, Will Carlton (Jessi) of Harrodsburg and Graham Carlton (Nicole) of Lawrenceburg; and one niece, Jennifer Toll (Rocky) of Shepherdsville.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 22, and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Connie's life-long friend, Bro. Jerry Montgomery, and the Rev. Jim Wheeler officiating.
