Obituary

Clayton Manley, 87, husband of 60 years to Betty (Ellis) Manley, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2019 at the V.A. Healthcare in Lexington.

Born September 27, 1931 in Woodford County, KY, Clayton was the son of the late Bruce and Mirtie (Brown) Manley and preceded in death by his six brothers.

Clayton served his country as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was the owner and operator of Manley Excavating and earlier owned Manley Cab Company in Versailles. Clayton was an avid fan of horse racing and loved spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.

Including his wife, Clayton is survived by his four daughters, Peggy Buntain of Charlotte, NC, Sharon Mullins and husband Pat of Versailles, Teresa Abell and husband John of Frankfort, and Lana Pewitt and husband Steve of Frankfort; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 8 th from 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm follow by the service at 3:30 pm at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home. Dr. Robert F. Ehr will officiate the service. Burial with military honors will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

Clayton's seven grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
