Claude Sanders, Jr. LIVE Funeral Service Broadcast

Claude Sanders, Jr., 91, formerly of Majestic, Kentucky, husband of the late Ernestine Fannin Sanders, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026. Born on August 25, 1934, in Phelps, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Claude Sanders, Sr. and Minnie Robinett Sanders.

Claude was a devoted member of the Majestic Church of Christ, where he faithfully served as an Elder and Song Leader for many years. A hardworking and dedicated businessman, he was the longtime owner and operator of Sanders Trucking. Earlier in life, he also worked in construction building houses.

Following high school, Claude proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, spending time stationed in Germany. After returning home to Kentucky, he married the love of his life, Ernestine, and together they built a wonderful life.

Claude enjoyed sports throughout his life. In his younger years, he played in the Coal Field Baseball League and spent several years coaching Little League teams. He was an avid sports fan and an especially devoted University of Kentucky fan.

During retirement, Claude became known for his talent as a craftsman and woodworker, creating many beautiful pieces by hand. He cherished quiet evenings sitting on the patio with Ernestine, listening to oldies music and watching hummingbirds. He also loved singing and playing his harmonica, a gift he continued to enjoy well into his later years. Claude took great pride in his cars, always keeping them polished and immaculate, and he was a longtime member of the Masonic fraternity. Above all else, Claude treasured his role as "Papaw" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy and pride.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Ernestine, he was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Jean Fowler.

Claude is survived by his children, Katrina Stoner (Carl) of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, Tony Sanders of Allen, Kentucky, and Michelle Stacy of Mount Sterling, Kentucky; his brother, James Ray Sanders; grandchildren, Jeremy Honaker (Allyson), Jerilyn Hanks (John), Cayci Rose (Ben), Lindsey Moody (Scott), Dalton Sanders, and Cole Sanders; step-grandchildren, Adam Stoner (Sharay) and Makenzie Hutchinson (Jared); nine great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Bro. Gene Clemmons and Larry Thompson officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service. Burial will follow in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Claude's grandsons and great-grandsons.
