Chester L. Kays, Jr., 59, husband of 30 years to Bobbie L. Wade Kays, passed away Friday, August 21, 2020. Born May 6, 1961 in Ashton, Idaho, J.R. was the son of the late Chester Lockhart Kays and Evelyn Mae Shelton Kays.
Along with his parents, J.R. was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Jane Kays and two brothers, Larry Ray Kays and Conley Floyd Kays.
J.R. served his country in the U.S. Army and worked in Quality Assurance for Topy America, Inc. in Frankfort. A member of the Real Life Church in Frankfort, J.R. enjoyed astronomy, history, model ships, fishing and hunting.
Including his wife Bobbie, J.R. is survived by daughters, Brandy L. (David) Puckett and Amanda R. Peach (Jason Caldwell), all of Lawrenceburg; two grandchildren, Logan Alexander Sosby and Raven McKenzie Hutton; a great grandchild, Derrick Alexander Morrow; his siblings, Debra Lynn (Dee) Kays of Shelbyville, Patsy Sue (Terry) Bush of Lawrenceburg, and David Allen Kays of Lawrenceburg; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved Yorkie dog, "Mo".
Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 PM Wednesday, August 26 th followed by the service with military honors will begin at 7:00 PM Wednesday at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home. Pastors Keith Sparks and Glynn Doss will officiate the service. Cremation will follow the services.
Serving as honorary bearers will be Mark Bivens, Don Allen, Mike Boggs, and Alvin Lynn.

To abide by the regulations set forth by the State of Kentucky all persons attending a visitation or funeral (public or private) will be required to wear a face covering and practice social distancing.
