Chester Griffieth's Obituary
Chester Ray Griffieth, 82, husband of Vida Rust Griffieth, passed away Friday, March 3, 2023 at his home in Lawrenceburg. Born in Nelson County, KY on June 28, 1940 to his late parents, George Washington Griffieth and Jessie D. Hatton Griffieth.
A retired machinist mechanic with Osram Sylvania, Chester served his country as a SP4 in the U.S. Army. He loved his family and serving with his church family at Faith Baptist Church in Versailles, KY. Chester enjoyed being a houndsman, rabbit hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Including Vida, his wife of 60 years, he is survived by his children, Lisa Shanks (Jaclyn), Kim Gunnels (Jack Seale), Sheila Burus (Bobby), and Timothy Griffieth; former son-in-law, Doug Shanks; his grandchildren, Joshua, Kasie, Tiffany, Joey, Kayla, Logan, Gracie, Whitney, and Nick; and his sister, Betty Oliver (Charlie). Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Chuck Gunnels, and 13 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, March 9th at Faith Baptist Church, 3692 Huntertown Rd., Versailles, KY with Bro. Joe Collins and Bro. Bobby Lakes officiating. Burial with military honors will follow 12:30 PM in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 - 8 PM at Faith Baptist Church.
Serving as pallbearers will be Nicholas Griffieth, Bobby Burus, Jack Seale, Timmy Griffieth, Josh Shanks, Joey Gunnels, and Chris Wilson. Honorary bearers will be Larry Peak, Brook Gunnels, Logan Burus, Thomas Barrett, Maurice Cinnamon, Bobby Cummins, Doug Shanks, Dusty Lay, and Jeff Hager.
Memorials in memory of Chester Griffieth are suggested to Faith Baptist Church, 3692 Huntertown Rd., Versailles, KY 40383.
