Carol Hawkins Catlett Funeral Service Broadcast

Teresa Carol Bates Hawkins Catlett, age 82, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Baptist Health Lexington. Carol was born on September 12, 1942 in Franklin County, KY to the late Stephen White Bates, Jr. and Shirley Hahn Bates.

Carol was a beloved member of First Christian Church in Lawrenceburg, KY where she was an active participant in the Christian Workers Circle of the Disciples Women's Ministries, she dedicated her time to filling the church's Blessing Box and volunteering at the summer produce giveaway. Carol cherished her Sunday lunches with friends, creating bonds that enriched her life. A graduate of Anderson County High School, she enjoyed a successful career in sales operations at Florida Tile and Lexmark and, later in retirement, served as a tour guide at Wild Turkey Distillery. Carol also spent several seasons working the spring and fall meets at Keeneland. A passionate golfer, she found joy in playing cards and mahjong with friends, and she was always on the go. Carol was a devoted fan of UK sports and proudly supported her grandkids in their athletic pursuits. Her vibrant spirit and unwavering commitment to her community will be deeply missed.

Along with her parents, Carol was preceded in death by a son, Gratz Brown Hawkins III; a grandson, Stephen Hawkins; siblings, Steve Bates and Toby Bates Peach; and a brother-in-law, Don Miller.

Carol is survived by her children, Jeffery Frazier "Hawk" Hawkins, Maurice Stephen Hawkins, and Kay Lelynn Hawkins (husband Mike) Corley all of Lawrenceburg; siblings, Mike (wife Pam) Bates, Bill (wife Linda) Bates, Kay Sheffield (husband Kurt) Nelson, and Peggy Miller; grandchildren, Bruce Carrier, Michael Corley, Luke Hawkins, Elizabeth Clay Hawkins, Rebecca Ratliff, and Courtney-Gale Hawkins; great grandchildren, Ethan Corley, Payton Sparrow, Olivia Sparrow, Blake Sparrow, and Eli Corley; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will take place at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Rev. Crystal McAliley officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until the time of the service at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday.

Serving as honorary bearers will be Patty Klink and members of the mahjong group.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Christian Church Building Fund, 300 South Main Street, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342, the American Cancer Society Lexington Office, 1504 College Way, Lexington, KY 40502, and food donations for the Blessing Box at First Christian Church in Lawrenceburg, KY.
