Brenda Joyce (Owens) Mitchell, age 75, wife of Myron Mitchell for nearly 58 years passed away in her home on Sunday, May 04, 2025 in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. Born December 16, 1949 in Louisville, Kentucky she was the daughter of the late Mary Kathleen and Gene Felger and the late Benjamin Owens.

Brenda was known for her generous spirit and giving nature. From an early age, she found joy in giving gifts, a passion that blossomed during the Christmas season. Christmas was her favorite holiday; it was an opportunity to express her love and appreciation for everyone she knew. The act of giving brought her immense happiness, and it was a hallmark of her character that she cherished throughout her life.

Not only was Brenda a giving person, but she could be characterized by her caring and forgiving nature. She never held grudges and was quick to forgive. This quality was not only a testament to her character but also a lesson for those around her. Brenda loved life and cherished her family, always maintaining an optimistic outlook. With her, there was a sense of reassurance; everything would ultimately be okay.

Brenda's love extended deeply to her family and her husband, Myron. Their 60-year journey together was filled with adventures that shaped their lives in profound ways. The couple spent a few years living overseas in Germany. After the birth of their son, Tony, Brenda braved the journey back to the states. Soon after, Myron joined her and they settled in Louisville, Kentucky. In 1979, seeking new opportunities, Brenda and Myron moved with their two children, Tony and Tina, to a farm in Washington County, Kentucky where they purchased and ran a local gas station food mart and ventured into the farming world. This transition was significant, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.

As a loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister, Aunt, and friend, Brenda played many roles in the lives of those around her. She was a cherished figure to many, and her absence is deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Brenda's legacy of generosity, love and unwavering support will continue to inspire those she left behind.

Brenda held positions with IBM, Universal Fasteners, Hitachi, and as a hairdresser for many friends and family. She never shied away from hard work. Brenda's ability to face challenges head-on without complaint was an inspiring quality.

Along with her parents, Brenda is preceded in death by three sisters: Phillis (Leroy) Walker, Nancy (Joe) Morris, and Norma Whitehead; three brothers, Duke Owens, Bobby Owens, and Danny Owens; one niece and her husband: Denise (Jim) Raeuchle, and three nephews, Dennis Morris, Joey Morris, Dustin South.

Brenda is survived by her husband Myron Mitchell; her son, Tony (Jamie) Mitchell and a daughter, Tina (Scott) Sagrecy; four grandchildren, Trevor (Natalie) Sagrecy, Trenton Mitchell, Maddy Sagrecy, and Amber Mitchell; Several brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Berniece Mitchell, Terry and Barbara Mitchell, Doyle and Connie Mitchell, Joanne Owens, and Tony Whitehead; and many nieces and nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Ritchie and Peach Funeral Home, and 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Friday, May 9, 2025 at Antioch Christian Church. The funeral service will take place at 1:00 PM at Antioch Christian Church, 334 Antioch Rd., Willisburg, KY 40078; with Bro. Bart Price officiating.

Serving as Pallbearers will be, Trenton Mitchell, Trevor Sagrecy, Patrick Flowers, Brandon Raeuchle, Jeffery Eastridge, and Ryan Montgomery. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Nieces and Nephews of Brenda Mitchell.
