Bobbie Joe Cubert, 83, husband of Myrtle DeWitt Cubert, passed away June 21, 2026 at his home in Anderson County, KY.  Born in Lawrenceburg, KY on December 18, 1942, Bobbie was a son of the late Enoch G. and Laurine Camic Cubert.

Along with his parents, Bobbie was preceded in death by his first wife, Janice "Ruth" Ferris Cubert, his sister Linda Lee Cubert Hawkins, and his brother David Cubert.

A 1960 graduate of Anderson High School, Bobbie received his degree in Special Education from S.W. Texas State University in 1979.  He served 20 years, 3 months and 13 days in the U.S. Air Force, including a time in Vietnam, before retiring in 1982 as a MSGT.

Following the years serving his country, Bobbie began his teaching career as a substitute teacher in Anderson County School System.  He later became a full-time special education teacher before retiring in 2007.  He also farmed and was a member of Hope Community Church and attended Family Worship Center.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #34 and the Anderson Masonic Lodge #90.

Including his wife Myrtle, Bobbie is survived by his children, Nadene Cubert of Lawrenceburg, Teresa Jones of Berea, and Johnny (Donna) DeWitt of Shelbyville; three grandchildren, Philip Jones of Paint Lick, Steven (Jordan) Jones of GA; and Carleigh Jones of NV; and his great-grandsons, Maverick and Everett Jones.

Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Friday, June 26, 2026 at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home.  Pastor Tony Andrade and Dr. Jeff Eaton will officiate the service.  Burial with military honors will follow at Hebron Cemetery in Anderson County.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 – 8 PM and on Friday from 11 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM.  Masonic Rites will be observed at 7:30 PM Thursday.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jared Cubert, Chester "David" Cubert, Chris Sutherland, Kyle Maddox, Jeremy Hawkins, Blake Sutherland, Philip Jones, and Steven Jones.  Honorary bearers will be Buddy Sims, Bruce Cunningham, Ronnie Sharp, Glenn Barker, Tony Gates, Joe Giles, Rick Parrish, Johnny DeWitt, Claude Cummins, and Arnold Murphy.  Arrangements are entrusted to Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home, Lawrenceburg, KY.
