Betty Jean Sutton Peak, 85, widow of the late Leon Elliott Peak, passed away June 8, 2025 at the home of her daughter, Anessa, in Anderson County.
Born in Anderson County on January 9, 1940, Betty Jean was the daughter of the late Ivan Dudley Sutton and Martha Lee "Tishie" Stratton.
She worked for many years, working at Fruit of the Loom, Trigometry, and Texas Instruments. Betty Jean enjoyed caring for her grandchildren. She was known for her green thumb, her family stated, "She could grow anything." She had a love for flowers, gardening, cooking, baking cakes, listening to music and sitting on her front porch.
Betty Jean is survived by her children, Anessa (Marsh) Woodrow and Suzan (Ron) Cheak, both of Lawrenceburg, and Annette Williams of Arkansas; 7 grandchildren, Andrew (Taylor) Woodrow, Ethan Woodrow, Meghan Woodrow, Tess (Chad) Cox, Natasha (Davin) Cheak, Josh (Amanda) Williams, and Jesse (Sarah) Williams; 11 great grandchildren; Karter and Oaklen Woodrow, Myla Goodlett, Carrington, Caydon, and Carris Cox, Griffin and Declan Jones, Bree, Jackson, and Lydia Williams; two sisters, Joann Elmore-Harrison and Doris Shephard.
Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Allen Peak; a grandson, Travis Elliott Cheak; a son-in-law, Bill Williams; and two sisters, Virginia Mae Wagoner and Pauline Legel.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at the Lawrenceburg Cemetery pavilion with Billy Overstreet speaking.
