Betty Jo Ellis Manley, 89, beloved wife of the late Carl Clayton Manley, passed away on March 12, 2026, at the Bluegrass Hospice Care Center at UK Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Born July 1, 1936, in Anderson County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Wallace Ellis and Hazel Dedman Ellis.

Betty Jo was a faithful and devoted member of First Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg. She especially enjoyed volunteering and serving in the children's ministry and was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. Betty Jo had a deep love for her church and church family. She cherished time spent with her family and friends and was known for the many friendships she formed over the years. She enjoyed playing Rook, traveling with friends, and spending quiet moments reading. Betty Jo retired from the Kentucky State Government after many years of service as a secretary.

Betty Jo is survived by her daughters, Peggy Buntain of Pinehurst, North Carolina; Sharon (Pat) Mullins of Versailles, Kentucky; Teresa (Pat) Abell of Frankfort, Kentucky; and Lana (Steve) Pewitt of Frankfort, Kentucky; a sister, Peggy Beasley of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Along with her husband and parents, Betty Jo was preceded in death by her grandson, Brandon King; her son-in-law, Richard Buntain; her brothers, Paul Ellis, Tommy Ellis, Jerry Ellis, and Johnny Ellis; and her sisters, Helen Rudd and Barbara Montgomery.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home, 701 N. Main Street, Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, with Dr. Robert Ehr officiating. Burial will follow at Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service on Monday from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Betty Jo's grandsons: Neil Abell, Ben Abell, David Abell, Tyler Pewitt, Luke Mullins, and Patrick Pewitt. Honorary pallbearers will be Betty Jo's granddaughters, Laura Stallings and Kristin Billy.
