Betty Kirby Funeral Service Broadcast

Betty Jean Sayre Kirby, 93, wife of the late William J. Kirby, passed away October 9, 2023 at Hometown Manor Assisted Living, Georgetown, KY. Born in Anderson County, KY on June 17, 1930, Betty was the daughter of Marion Sayre and Verna Thompson Sayre.

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lee Sayre and Billy Sayre.

A 1949 graduate of Kavanaugh High School in Lawrenceburg, Betty was a member of the Ninevah Christian Church.  She served as head of bereavement dinners for years and enjoyed going to the activities of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Jeannie (husband Mike) Wainscott of Lawrenceburg and Jeff (wife Reca) Kirby of Benton, KY; three grandchildren, Lori (Curt) Gammons of Bowling Green, Justin (Ashley) Wainscott of Cynthiana, and J.W. Kirby of Benton; two great grandchildren, Morgan Gammons and Carson Gammons; two sisters, Alice Haden of Lawrenceburg and Helen (Elwood) Harris of Frankfort; and a sisters-in-law, Barbara Sayre and Delia Kirby McKie.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 10 am – 1 pm followed by the funeral service starting at 1:00 pm Saturday at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home.  Terry Cooper will officiate the service.  Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Satterly, Curt Gammons, Josh Satterly, J.W. Kirby, Justin Wainscott, and Carson Gammons.  Honorary bearers will be Brenda Gritton, Bill Gayle, Trudy Gayle, Rita Adams, Ben Bruser, Brenda Robinson, Carl Williams, Don Cooper, and Vicki Jolly.
