Funeral Service Broadcast for Betty Ross Hawkins

Betty Ross Hawkins, 90, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025, at her home in Lawrenceburg. She was born on October 23, 1934, in Winchester, KY, to the late Willie T. Litteral and Martha Morris Litteral.

Betty was a member of First Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg. A graceful and compassionate woman, she dedicated herself to caring for others, first as a homemaker, then through her work in child care, in local factories, and later in retail, where she served many with kindness as a cashier at Goodwill. She was also a proud member of the Eastern Star. Betty found joy in life's simple pleasures: dancing, fishing, and listening to music brought her happiness, while her love for cross-stitching and embroidery reflected her patience and creativity.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by three beloved husbands, Andrew J. Ross, father of her children; Lawson Hooper; and Florian Hawkins, as well as her fiancé, Donnie Prather. She was also preceded in death by five siblings: Joseph Gibbs, Billy Austen Litteral, Lucille Taulbee, Lottie Carol Taulbee, and Marlene "Morrine" Babb.

She is survived by her five daughters, Nancy K. Thompson of Lawrenceburg, KY; Patricia Ross (Ray) Martorano of Lexington, KY; Kathy Ross Kelton of Frankfort, KY; Andrea Ross Etheridge of Radcliff, KY; and Belinda Ross Ritchie of Lawrenceburg, KY. She is also lovingly remembered by nine grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Michael Ashburn and Dr. Bob Ehr officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Tuesday at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ray Martorano, Jay Arthur-Martorano, Andy Etheridge, Andy Kirby, Lee Ashburn, Joseph Riggs, Jeremy Riggs, Zack Ashburn, and Kadence Riggs. Honorary bearers will be Brayden Riggs, Braxton Riggs, Conner Arthur-Martorano, and Bishop Arthur-Martorano.
